Early Summer Show

Welcome to our first show of 2025! This show is going to include as many different disciplines as we can offer. There is definitely something for you and your horse and your dog to do! So what’s new? Let’s have a look!

Show Jumping

This year we are going to offer our show jumping in reverse order. It always seems unfair that our 65cm+ jumpers miss out due to either their horse being tired or the English Weather. So we will be starting our shows at 10am with the Senior Class of 65cm. We will work our way towards to 90cm. We will offer our lower classes — Tiny Trots to 50cm, starting at noon in our smaller school ring. Whereas the more advanced classes will have up to 12 fences and combination, our lower classes will top out at 7 fences or combinations. In all cases, we will be awarding rosettes to 6th place and Judge’s Specials as decided.

We will use the Carry On system for our shows, which means you will jump the course and if you are clear, a bell will sound which will indicate that you are to continue onto the Jump Off. The rider with the lowest times and faults will be the winner and placings will follow.

Clear Round Jumping will be held in the morning in the smaller school ring. There will be £3 per round or two rounds for £5. Heights set as requested. You do not need to pre-register for this Section.

Dressage

This year we are incorporating dressage into our regular shows. This will bring dressage to a new audience and allow dressage riders to join in our big shows. We will be riding our Tests in the Grass School. You may have your test called in Intro and Prelim Classes, but you must know your test if you are riding Novice and above. These will be the NEW British Dressage Tests from 2024. We will be awarding rosettes to sixth place. Dressage riders will also be able to compete in our Championship Show in September.

Mini Cross Country

Some horses and riders like colourful fences in an enclosed arena and some riders and horses love to play in the open field. Mini Cross Country is filled with more natural jumps that one might encounter when they are riding a hunt. We will have walls, water trays and hay bales, natural coloured fences and lots of flowers. There is even a small ditch. Our fences will be set at 40cm, 50cm, and 60cm (the majority at 50cm) for this show. We will be awarding rosettes to 6th place and giving Judge’s Specials as decided. Winners of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places will be included in our Championship Show in September.

We will use a Carry On system for our jump off. You will ride the full course of 12 fences and we will time from fence 7. Placings will be done based on fences down and times.

Horse & Hound

We are offering a new class of competition called Horse & Hound. A quartet consisting of a horse, a dog, a Handler and a rider will be needed. The horse and rider will jump a course of 7 jumps (various heights — please see registration) while a Handler holds the dog. When the horse completes the course, the rider will dismount and take the dog for a quick run and jump over the same 7 jumps. The quickest and cleanest run wins. There is no jump off in this class. Please remember the height your dog can comfortably jump when entering this Section. We will award rosettes to sixth place. Winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd rosettes will be included in our Championship Show in September.
